POSITIONS
April 2023 – Present CEO, Saimaanvalo Oy Founded my own company that offers a wide variety of healthcare services like yoga classes, retreats, and yoga therapy for individuals and for groups. Saimaanvalo offers nature related courses and trips like birds watching and star wathing sessions. We also offer administratives services to association, like SAKKE ry. We also sell for example sale services to healthcare companies and hospitals.
May 2014 – April 2023 Product Clinical Specialist GE Healthcare I took care of sales of our MI systems in Finland and Estonia (PET/CT, SPECT/CT, Cyclotrons and workstations) and applications in the whole Nordic region. In practice I answered tenders and other quote-related questions, sales demos and presentations, organized and attended site visits and conferences. Visiting customers and keeping up customer contacts was the best part of my job and I loved sharing my wide knowledge with them.
Sep 2021 – April 2024 Teacher, Linnala Folk College, Linnalan Opisto I have been teaching different yoga classes, Basics of Astronomy and Basic of Bird watching -courses in Linnala Folk College
Jan 2021 – Dec 2022 Teacher, Tanhuvaara Sport Academy, Tanhuvaaran urheiluopisto I have been teaching Vijnana yoga in Tanhuvaara Sport Academy now for four semesters, I have also been co-hosting yoga retreats organized in Tanhuvaara.
Jan 2010 – May 2014 Clinical Education Specialist, CES, Europe, GE Healthcare Continued work started in Euromedic. When GE launched one of the most selling PET/CT camera, I was the European leader, meaning than I was responsible to train all European CESs. Above this I was member of the global Pre-clinical team. For this I worked with Triumph tri-modality systems and did sales/marketing support. I have enjoyed the job a lot. Meeting new people, sites and situations make sure that all the days are different and there are always new challenges to wait for.
Aug 2006 – Dec 2009 Clinical Education Specialist, CES, Europe, Euromedic, Hungary During this time I worked as a Clinical Education Specialist for GE for Europe, often worked also outside this region, e.g. Turkey and Russia. Main tasks were training the customers for PET/CT and SPECT/CT cameras and all applications, both basic and advanced, related to Oncology, Neurology and Cardiology for both all three modalities Xeleris and AW workstations. A big deal of my job was attending site visits, doing sale support, pre- sale demos, attend conferences and do customer presentation
Jan 2005 – Jun 2006 Hospital Physicist, Turku University Central Hospital, PET centre I was a responsible Physicist of the first PET/CT device in Finland. The scanner was GE 16 Discovery ST, upgraded first to 16 Discovery STE and later to 64-slice Discovery VCT. I was part of the team from very beginning, so I get to know different vendors and scanners in the market. As Turku PET Centre is GE’s reference site, I was responsible of the site visits, reporting possible development suggestion to GE and I have been working closely with both hardware and software that are linked to PET/CT.
Oct 2004 – Dec 2004 Researcher, Turku University, Tuorla Observatory I was just finished my Canadian Post-Doc and continued and finished the projects and took part e.g. organizing seminar series.
Jul 2003 – Jun 2005 Post Doc fellow, York University, Canada, Department of Physics and Astronomy
I was part of the research group that was studying evolution, structure and properties of local Galaxy, small stars and globular clusters. We modelled synthetic and theoretical models with the data we took in Hawaii, Australia and China. I spent about one third of the time in Canada.
Jan 2004 – Apr 2004 Researcher, Turku University, Tuorla Observatory During Post Doc fellowship I was working part time also in Tuorla Observatory, which was also my home institute.
Jan 2002 – Dec 2004 Väisälä Foundation Young Researcher After dissertation I extended my research started in PhD thesis. During this time I contacted Canadian and Chinese groups and started working with them. I did lot of observations in China and spend more than third of this time there. This experience has been very useful to me even in my current position. At the same time I was working also in York University.
Nov 2001 – Jan 2002 and Nov 2002 – Jan 2003 Teacher, Parainen High School / Parainen Folk College While I was waiting for my PhD thesis to be accepted I was asked to give a course about Astronomy. The course was aimed for high school students but was also open to others. Content of course was basic astronomy but included also more detailed parts about star evolution and telescope working principles, eksoplanets, galaxy evolution and for example time travelling.
Aug 2002 – Dec 2002´ Teacher, Halikko High School and Folk College Similar courses than in Parainen but separately for High schoole students and Folk School students. Since Folk School students were mainly adults whom were interested in astronomy the class included more practical observations and they could affect the general contents of the course more.
Jul 2001 – Dec 2001 Graduate student in Finnish Graduate School in Astronomy and Space sciences During this time I finished my PhD thesis and took part of the classes and course held by the Graduate School.
Jul 1998-Jun 2001 Foundation Young Researcher, Tuorla Observatory I was doing studies for the PhD concerning i.e. optics, theory of relativity and cosmology. I was also doing observations for my PhD in Australia and analyzing the data and writing articles.
Jan 1998 – Apr 1998 Second lecturer, Turku University Giving lectures about mathematical problems done in practise in celestial mechanics.
Aug 1996 – Jun 1998 Research Assistance, Turku University, Tuorla Observatory Did my Master’s thesis and started my PhD studies
