About me
My story
My path to working life began in 1993 as a physics student at the University of Turku. I graduated as a master's in philosophy in 1997 as a student, majoring in astronomy, after a few years of procrastination. I managed to get an Australian Chris Flynn as my supervisor, with whose guidance I continued working on the dissertation. The topic of the degree was "Dark Matter in Low Surface Brightness Galaxies" and the dissertation "K dwrafs and the Chemical Evolution of Galaxies". That was pretty good for someone who had taken a short chemistry class in high school and passed the basic university course with first class. The study time was amazing and it offered challenges and rewards in a suitable ratio.
I continued my career as an astronomer with another 3 years of Post Doc China and in Canada. At this point, however, my eyes began to turn elsewhere and by chance I ended up as a physicist at TYKS PET Center. This was the beginning of my career in the world of health technology and imaging.
In 2006, GE Healthcare recruited me into the whirlwind of the corporate world. There I was responsible for sales and training of Nuclear medicine equipment in Europe and the Nordic countries. This path took me a long time, 17 years, and I closed this door behind me in April 2023.
I got to know the world of yoga through university yoga. How difficult it was! My image of yoga is probably quite traditional, sitting and smiling or putting your foot behind your neck. It was that, but so much more! As usual, I plunged straight into the deep end and then I was in yoga classes in one piece! Pranayamas, kriyas, drists and many other terms soon became familiar. At the Eko Helsinki yoga festivals, I won a ticket to Olotila classes and got to know Vijnana yoga. It felt so special to me that I completed a three-year yoga teacher's degree (800 hours) and graduated as a yoga instructor in January in the middle of the corona period 2021.
During the corona crisis, we got hit in the head and my husband and I moved to Savonlinna, the lovely village of Moij on the shore of Saimaa. We didn't know Savonlinna before or knew anyone local, but we sneaked in here! I first taught yoga at Tanhuvaara sports college and later also at At Linnala opisto. Nowadays, I also practice yoga at home, give private yoga lessons and hold retreats.
I have also continued studying yoga, in 2022 I graduated as a yin yoga teacher and in 2023 as a MediYin yoga therapist. Within the framework of yoga therapy, I offer therapy to individuals and groups and do, for example, Guasha treatments.
Add to this my enthusiasm for birds, astronomy, nature, hunting, hunting, Saimaa ringed seal, nature conservation, Lions, and the package starts to be ready!
